Queensland\u00e2\u0080\u0099s largest hospitality and tourism awards highlighted the Industry\u00e2\u0080\u0099s finest within the state at the Awards for Excellence presentation night dinner Hillstone St Lucia.<\/p>\n<p>Five hundred hospitality professionals came together, travelling from Port Douglas in the North to Coolangatta in the South and out to St George in the West. All six regions came together to celebrate the culinary diversity of the state and to see who the top performers were for 2009.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0Early in the night Michel Flores from Townsville was honoured for his contribution to the industry and presented with the 2009 Queensland Lifetime Achiever Award.<\/p>\n<p>Then the credits rolled to announce; Brisbane\u00e2\u0080\u0099s <strong>Mons Ban Sabai Thai Garden Restaurant<\/strong>, Queensland\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Best BYO Restaurant and Best Thai Restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>Brisbane proved they are home to the <strong>Best Seafood Restaurant<\/strong> with <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Lure Seafood Restaurant<strong> <\/strong><\/span>at The Coro (Milton), the <strong>Best Pizza Restaurant<\/strong> with <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Sugo M<\/span><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">i<\/span> (Bulimba),<strong> Best European Restaurant<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">C\u00e2\u0080\u0099est Bon<\/span> (Woolloongabba),<strong> Best Coffee Shop\/ Tea Room<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">High Societea<\/span> (Clayfield), <strong>Best Caf\u00c3\u00a9 Restaurant<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Boroughs Caf\u00c3\u00a9 Wine Bar<\/span> ( Sandgate), <strong>Best Chinese Restaurant<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Enjoy Inn<\/span> (Fortitude Valley) <strong>Best Italian Restaurant<\/strong> , <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Bar Alto<\/span> (New Farm) and <strong>Best Fine Dining Restaurant<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Gianni\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Restaurant<\/span> (CBD).<\/p>\n<p>Brisbane Restaurateur John Kilroy\u00e2\u0080\u0099s new <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Jellyfish Restaurant <\/span>(CBD) picked up <strong>Best New<\/strong> and <strong>Best Specialty Cuisine Restaurant<\/strong> while <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Cha Cha Char<\/span> (CBD) regained its title as <strong>Queensland\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Best Steak Restaurant<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Sunshine Coast\u00e2\u0080\u0099s <span style=\"color: #ffcc00;\"><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Wasabi Restaurant<\/span> <\/span>won <strong>Best Asian Restaurant<\/strong> (Noosa Sound), <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Rocco Noosa<\/span> (Noosa) <strong>Best Entertainment Restaurant<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Lindoni\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Ristorante Italiano<\/span> (Noosa) <strong>Best Alfresco Dining Restaurant<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Blue Ginger<\/span> (Noosaville) <strong>Best Informal Dining Restaurant<\/strong> and <strong>Best Indian Restaurant<\/strong> was <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">India Today Restaurant<\/span> (Caloundra).<\/p>\n<p>The Gold Coast saw <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Chill on Tedder<\/span> (Main Beach) win <strong>Best Chef Owner Restauran<\/strong>t, the <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Watermark Hotel &amp; Spa<\/span> Gold Coast- Waves Restaurant won <strong>Best Casual Dining Buffet Restaurant<\/strong> and the <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Gold Coast Arts Centre<\/span> was awarded <strong>Best Venue Caterer 2009<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/australiantropicalfoods.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/nick-holloway.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3649\" title=\"nick-holloway\" src=\"https:\/\/australiantropicalfoods.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/nick-holloway.jpg\" alt=\"nick-holloway\" width=\"62\" height=\"66\" \/><\/a>Nu Nu Restaurant (Palm Cove)<\/span><\/strong> was awarded <strong>Queensland\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Best Breakfast Restaurant<\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #ccffcc;\"><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">The Beach House<\/span> <\/span>(Hamilton Island) was awarded <strong>Best Tourism Restaurant<\/strong> whilst <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Capers at the Beach Bar\/Grill<\/span> (Airlie Beach) won <strong>Best Professional Development under 100 Staff<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best Institutional Caterer<\/strong> was<span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"> QR Catering Unit<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Lifestyle Chef<\/span> won <strong>Best Site Caterer<\/strong> and <strong>Best Event Caterer<\/strong> was given to <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Spotless at Indy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre<\/span> received top accolades with both <span style=\"color: #00ffff;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Best Function\/Convention Centre Caterer and Caterer of the Year 2009.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The supreme Restaurant of the Year<\/strong> title belongs to Philip Johnson\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Brisbane Restaurant <strong><span style=\"color: #00ffff;\">E\u00e2\u0080\u0099cco Bistro<\/span><\/strong>. E\u00e2\u0080\u0099cco was also named Queensland\u00e2\u0080\u0099s Best Contemporary Australian Restaurant.<\/p>\n<p>The crowned winners from Queensland will now compete in the Restaurant &amp; Catering Savour Australia National Awards for Excellence to be hosted in Canberra.
