{"id":4034,"date":"2009-12-21T20:51:19","date_gmt":"2009-12-21T10:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.australiantropicalfoods.com\/?p=4034"},"modified":"2014-03-20T05:16:55","modified_gmt":"2014-03-19T19:16:55","slug":"agri-food-tourism-project-for-tnq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/australiantropicalfoods.com\/index.php\/2009\/12\/agri-food-tourism-project-for-tnq\/","title":{"rendered":"Agri-Food Tourism Project for TNQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"color: #ffff00;\">TOURISM FUNDING BOOST FOR CAIRNS<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>9 December 2009\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP, today announced a consortium of North Queensland tourism stakeholders have received a TQUAL Grant of $446,010 for an innovative project to develop the region\u2019s tropical food attractions.<\/p>\n<p>The project &#8211; led by Advance Cairns &#8211; will help diversify the region\u2019s economy and deliver a regional food brand and a food consumer show, as well as extra marketing and promotion.<\/p>\n<p>Minister Ferguson said: \u201cTwo million visitors arrive at Cairns airport every year, so developing North Queensland\u2019s food tourism experience presents great opportunities to disperse visitors across Tropical North Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is expected that around 20 new food tourism operators will emerge as a result of this funding, which will drive economic growth and will be a catalyst for regional development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis funding will help the Cairns tourism industry be better positioned in a highly competitive market and give domestic and international travellers more reasons to travel in North Queensland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Government is pleased to be investing in a more professional, innovative and competitive tourism industry.\u201d<br \/>\nTourism in Australia is a $40 billion industry which directly employs 497,000 people and generates almost 9% of Australia\u2019s exports.<\/p>\n<p>The other recipients of the Government\u2019s $8.3 million TQUAL Grants program will be released in the near future.<br \/>\nMedia contact:\u00a0 Michael Bradley \u2013 0420 371 744<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 TOURISM FUNDING BOOST FOR CAIRNS 9 December 2009\u00a0 The Minister for Tourism, Martin Ferguson AM MP, today announced a consortium of North Queensland tourism stakeholders have received a TQUAL Grant of $446,010 for an innovative project to develop the region\u2019s tropical food attractions.
