2009 Culinary Delights Exhibition
Cairns Central Shopping Centre – 19th 20th & 21st May 2009

The 2009 Annual Culinary Arts display  hosted by the Les Toques Blanches Inc,  at Cairns Central Shopping Centre is sure to be a crowd pleaser, showcasing the culinary skills of the chefs of the region.

The 3 day activities will be action packed with cooking competitions from our apprentice chefs and bakers, cooking demonstrations of pasta and sushi, seafood, meats and chocolates, a schools cooking competition for second year vocational education students and a live celebrity chef cook off where  four local celebrities will cook off against one another accompanied each with an apprentice/chef and provided with a mystery box of ingredients.

The event is to promote Chefing as an exciting career path and foster the art of culinary skills in the community at large.

9.30am – 11.30am – Live Apprentice Cooking Competition (4 Competitors with a choice of Seafood or Meat)

 

9.30am – 11.00am – Live Cooking Demonstration – Pasta & Sushi (Apprentices and Chefs from Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas)

 

9.30am – 11.30am – Live School Cooking Competition

(4 Teams of 2 Students per School preparing a protein choice of seafood or meat main &  a dessert)

 

12noon – 2.00pm – Live Bread Cooking Demonstration

(Includes 2 Qualified Bakers and top 4 TAFE Bakery Apprentices)

 

11.15am – 12.45pm – Live Cooking Demonstration – Pastry & Chocolate (Apprentices and Chefs from Chocolat)

 

12noon – 1.30pm – Live Celebrity Chefs Cook Off

4 Local Celebrities will cook off against one another accompanied each with an apprentice/chef and provided with a mystery box of ingredients.

 

2.15pm – 4.15pm – Live Apprentice cooking Competition (4 Competitors with a choice of Seafood or Meat)

 

1.00pm – 2.30pm – Live Cooking Demonstration – Seafood preparation and cooking including fish filleting etc.

 

2.00pm – 4.00pm – Live School Cooking Competition

(4 Teams of 2 Students per School preparing a protein choice of seafood or meat main & a dessert)

 

 

2.45pm – 4.15pm – Live Cooking Demonstration – Meat
