British chef Rick Stein will open his Australia restaurant on October 1 at Bannisters in Mollymook luxury lodge, on the south coast of NSW.
Rick Stein at Bannisters will feature a menu that will draw on local produce and Stein’s signature ingredient, seafood.
“Ever since a memorable weekend eating Pambula oysters and flathead in Merimbula in the 1960s I’ve had the image of the clean blue sea and sweet seafood of the South Coast fixed in my head,” Stein said.
“So when I was introduced to Mollymook about six years ago I knew that one day I would open up a restaurant celebrating local fish and shellfish but keeping it really simple.”
Stein will divide his time between Australia, Cornwall and filming his cooking shows around the globe.
Bannisters was just awarded South Coast Restaurant of the Year 2009 and Winner Restaurant in Resort 2009 – awarded by Restaurant and Catering NSW.

If you dine at the NEW Ariaâs overlooking the Storey Bridge in Brisbane, you will notice the change of colours of the Aria Sydney blue logo to the Brisbane Maroon logo; a welcoming sign for Queenslanders. Â
The much anticipated opening of this 140-seat venue that offers private dining for up to forty and striking river views has not been a disappointment.
Mercedes Benz leather wall lining and wood panelling oozes luxury with its muted earthy tones and club ambiance.  It was Mattâs absolute strive for perfection with the kitchen design that stalled the opening date; it had to be right from day oneâ¦.and it was.
